Overview

The new five-year Master’s Degree Program of the Department of Mechanical Engineering meets the requirements of Article 46, L. 4485/2017 (FEK A’ 114), for a unified and integrated Master’s degree.

  • It has a five (5) years (10 academic semesters) duration for obtaining an Engineering Diploma,
  • Includes all the necessary courses (details in APPENDIX C) to ensure:
    • the foundations on the basic sciences and arts,
    • the development of the core courses of the specialty in the whole range of the specialty of the Mechanical Engineer,
    • the comprehension and perception at a high level of knowledge in the whole range of the subject matter of the specialty.
  • Provides for the elaboration of a thesis dissertation lasting one (1) academic semester.

Short Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the Departments of the School of Engineering of the University of the Peloponnese. The Department aims to provide a high level of theoretical and laboratory training in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The training provided aims to cover undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level of studies. For this purpose, modern and constantly renewed educational tools are used to describe the evolving knowledge in this field.

This curriculum is the product of feedback experience arising from several evolutionary revisions – in line with technological progress – that have occurred during the more than forty-year period of operation of the Department. Also, a catalytic effect on its current formulation, is the departmental incorporation in the University of the Peloponnese. The latter is a new starting point in the department targets and prospects.

It was attempted to sufficiently cover the basic topics of the general and specific infrastructure of the Mechanical Engineer. Subjects focused on the modern developments of Mechanical Engineering, laboratory equipment, as well as software for the simulation of processes and design of mechanical installations and structures have been introduced. The current design equips graduates with the ability to monitor and assimilate scientific and technological developments in the context of lifelong learning.
